Band Director, Conductor
Mr. Samuel Tan,
started his musical career in 1996 after being auditioned successfully to join the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) Bands as a French Horn Player.
Where after he attained a Grade 8 with merit in French Horn, Samuel decided to pick up a second instrument, the Oboe. He then decided to pursue the Oboe, and finished a Grade 8 with merit for Oboe before his contract with the SAF Bands end. Samuel became the Sectional In Charge of the Double Reeds section of the SAF Central Band a year before he left. Mr. Samuel studied French Horn under Dixie de Souza, ex French Horn player of the Singapore Symphony Orchestra (SSO), and later learned the Oboe under Elaine Yeo, oboeist of SSO.
He then successfully graduated with a Diploma in Biotechnology from the Singapore Polytechinc. He has also completed Diploma in Band Directing from the National Institute of Education, Singapore in year 2003.
